About the Cybernetix Ventures Robotics Playbook
Cybernetix Ventures had a crazy idea late 2024: What if they did a playbook to guide tech startups in the world of robotics? It was such a huge, novel idea they had no idea how they wanted this to look other than they wanted it informative, funny, and laid out like a real-life paper book. This project specifically had two challenges: How could I achieve a book-like layout in a digital space, and what would illustration for this concept look like? What followed was months of collaboration between the Cybernetix team and ours. In the end, Cybernetix went with a more serious approach, but the following era of the art development remains my favorite.
how to create a novel experience on the web
This was a special project for Cybernetix Ventures, as when they approached us for a playbook, they didn’t have any ideas for the interior or the layout. The challenge came in two parts: layout and in illustration. For the layout, I developed a “book” like prototype in Figma that was as flexible as a book could be. That meant that the UI needed to be as flexible as possible, with the idea that accessing a page should be as fast as flipping open a book. That lead to the UI that’s currently in use on the site today, with some modifications to go with the new style direction.
