About Companyon Ventures
Companyon Ventures is a firm dedicated to funding the businesses of the future. They focus on investing in software startups and helping with growth, management, and financial decisions in the early expansion stage of funding. Companyon helps with marketing, sales execution, data modeling, fundraising, recruiting, and more. The brand embodies the scrappy, visionary spirit of so many early tech companies. Their website, branding, and social media was included in the refresh.
website design
The website has a combination of modern, abstracted half-tone images and retro pixelated graphics and icons. All images on the website had a custom half-tone treatment applied to them. After a few months, updates to the website included a custom blog treatment. I executed on the responsive website and expanded on the brand with custom pixel art.

iconography design & management
Companyon’s icon development proved to be a challenge. We wanted a pixel aesthetic, but traditionally pixel art was made in programs that worked exlusively in raster and wouldn’t be appropriate for the brand. I developed a streamlined master pixel grid in illustrator that allowed me to “paint” new icons, cutting the time it took to create new icons by half. The pixel icons were so popular that, in later revisions of the site, stylized stock photography was replaced by pixel illustrations.
prototyping & handoff
The entire site was made in Adobe XD, which included extensive prototyping. Upon handoff, I worked closely with the Dev team to provide meticulously organized files, assets, and instructions.
